The popular bromide is that time heals all wounds. Sociologist Nan Lin is seeking to contact 1,000 Capital District residents he first interviewed 13 years ago as part of a study that will shed light on the truth of that cliche.
Lin, a professor of sociology at Duke University, interviewed 1,000 Albany-area residents three times from 1979 to 1982 to research how well people deal with stressful events. He did that earlier study while he was a professor at the State University at Albany, and now he has received a $1 million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to gain a long-term perspective on how stressful …
